Women’s Political Leadership Resolutions Campaign

ReflectUS Virginia is dedicated to addressing the gender gap in elected local and state positions throughout the Commonwealth.  In Virginia, women represent roughly 27% of local governing elected positions and key appointed board and commission seats.  Studies show that diverse leadership, specifically political leadership by women, strengthens our democratic systems and institutions.

The “Women’s Political Leadership Resolutions Campaign” provides an opportunity for local leaders to recognize the value of women’s contributions to their communities, as well as provide opportunities for leadership development and advancement.  By adopting the non-binding resolution, municipalities and local governments pledge to make gender-balanced appointments to local boards and commissions.

Local efforts will be supported by ReflectUS Virginia alongside state partners League of Women Voters of Virginia and Virginia Organizing as we collectively create a pipeline of women candidates to fulfill these appointments.
