ReflectUS Texas is working with Lone Star Parity, Dallas Kids First and MU Delta Alpha to increase the number of women running for, getting elected, and being appointed to political office across the state.
Lone Star Parity Project is dedicated to sharing the stories of women and femmes in Texas politics with the goal of discovering useful trends and tools that, once utilized, can ensure political parity to the state, across all levels of government.
Dallas Kids First is the year-round organizational glue that helps to keep the DISD school board accountable. By supporting every single election, year after year, Dallas Kids First is positioned to help build and sustain a high-quality board that can prioritize student success.
Mu Delta Alpha is the first Professional Muslim Sorority in the US and the first Muslim Sorority in Texas. It was established in 2014 at the University of Dallas at Texas. It was founded by Samira Maddox with a group of friends who saw the need of having representation at the university level for driven and talented women like themselves who desired to instigate change and build a sisterhood.
Through our Texas Leadership Council, we organize trainings, networking opportunities, workshops, seminars, and other events aimed at encouraging and supporting women as they seek office.
ReflectUS is eager to be working in Texas to help empower women in pursuit of political leadership roles. If you’re interested in speaking with the Texas Program Manager about your experience as a candidate or any obstacles that might currently be preventing you from running please schedule time to speak with her here. If you’d like for ReflectUS to present to your organization about civic leadership, please contact our Texas Program Manager at [email protected].
ReflectUS aims to help women understand the current state of representation where they live. In doing so, we hope to not only inspire, but also guide women through the process of running for office. Below is a heat map that further details the extreme lack of political leadership by women in Texas. Through our work, we hope to change this.
